Mountainbike Merida BIG.NINE 100 2X

Featuring a 100 mm air suspension fork and fast-rolling 29er wheels, the BIG.NINE 100 allows you to cover ground quickly and comfortably. The slightly more minimalistic double chainring setup provides a broad range of gears, perfect for long off-road sessions and fast blasts through the urban jungle. The slightly more upright riding position puts less strain on the lower back and also improves the visibility of what lies ahead.

Mountain biking is one of the most varied cycling disciplines and probably the most demanding when it comes to equipment. While full suspension bikes offer amazing riding characteristics, the classic hardtail remains one of the purest tools for the job. Our 29er wheel equipped BIG.NINE range comes in carbon and aluminium and features multiple geometry options. The updated CF carbon and LITE aluminium framed BIG.NINE offer truly modern geometry with increased standover clearance and handling stability to better deal with the tough race tracks of today, with downcountry ready TR options that boost fork travel and add in aggressive tyres and dropper posts. The more relaxed geometry of the BIG.NINE TFS and SPEED offers a more comfortable, upright riding position. Our classic hardtails are the backbone of our range and showcase the enormous wealth of experience and knowledge we could gain in over half a century of bike production and manufacturing.

  • Double butted aluminium frame with 29er wheels

  • SR Suntour 100 mm travel air suspension fork with lockout

  • Hydraulic disc brakes

  • Less aggressive and more upright geometry for maximum control and comfort

  • Shimano 9-speed drivetrain with double chainring setup

  • Internal cable routing

  • X-TAPER HEADTUBE - Steering precision is vital to safe and confident handling, and the X-TAPER HEADTUBE allows us to significantly boost this precision. A larger headset diameter at the bottom paired with a smaller one at the top helps to deal with the strains modern riding and equipment can put on the headtube, all without adding unnecessary weight. It allows tapered forks to be fitted with ease and delivers precise and confidence-inspiring steering.
  • DOWN TUBE EXIT - DOWN TUBE EXIT is a feature seen on some of our frames with internally routed cables. By slightly overlapping the downtube where it connects to the bottom bracket, it leaves a small space that allows cables to exit easily. This means they are easily accessible for routine maintenance or replacement, but it prevents excessive movement and noise that can cause wear and distraction.
  • RACELITE 61 ALUMINIUM - We use a minimum of 6061 grade aluminium on all our bikes. It’s particularly well suited to being shaped with our hydroforming and technoforming processes, which allow us to vary the wall thickness to create double-butted tubing and complex frame shapes. It’s also an alloy that welds easily, and once it has been carefully heat treated to maximise strength, it means we can create strong and lightweight bicycle frames for you to enjoy.
  • F-MOUNT - Being able to turn your bike into an all-weather commuter that has mudguards and other fittings can be a real plus, in particular when riding on wet and perhaps muddy roads and tracks on a regular basis. To make fitting easy, some of our bikes are F-MOUNT equipped. These integrated fittings mounts make adding mudguards fast and simple. Please note that some bikes require model-specific mudguards.
  • K-MOUNT - When using your bike in an urban environment, where you might not always have the option to use a specific bike stand, a kickstand is an ideal solution to park your bike safely. Some of our bikes come with a neatly integrated K-MOUNT, which makes fitting a MERIDA kickstand (or any commercial kickstand) easy. And if you don’t want to have a kickstand and prefer the clean appearance of your frame, the K-MOUNT is neatly tucked away underneath your chainstay, difficult to spot if you don’t know it is there.
  • C-MOUNT - Similar to our F-MOUNT, where various fixing points for mudguards are part of the frame offering, the C-MOUNT equipped bikes have the fixing points for a rear rack already integrated, making fitting fast, simple and reliable. The C-MOUNTS are an additional feature that improves the day-to-day versatility by adding loading capacity to your bike, ideal for commuting and shopping trips. Please note that some bikes require model-specific rear racks.

Technologies

  • INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING – Cables connect your handlebar controls to vital components like gears and brakes, but there's no need for them to get in your way. With Internal Cable Routing we've reduced clutter and maintenance by running cables through the frame, keeping them out of the way of dust and water contamination – or damage from abrasion – as well as cleaning up your bike's appearance.
  • SMOOTH WELDING – Smooth Welding isn't easy, but worthwhile things usually aren't. It has two advantages. First, and most obviously, it looks great: one tube seems to almost flow into the other. Second, and at least as importantly, it helps to minimise load peaks on welded areas for better frame strength and durability.

MERIDA is one of the world's leading premium bicycle brands, founded in 1972 in Changhua, Taiwan by engineer and entrepreneur Ike Tseng (1932–2012). The brand's origin story is built on a real vision: while travelling in the US in the early 1970s, Ike Tseng spotted a sign on a bike shop door stating that Taiwanese-made bikes would not be accepted for repair due to their poor quality. This deeply offended him — and that same September he opened his factory in Yuanlin with a mission to prove that world-class bikes could be made in Taiwan. The name "Me-Ri-Da" loosely translates as "reaching your destination on a beautiful, high-quality product". For its first decades Merida operated as an OEM producer for major Western brands (including Raleigh, Specialized and Mongoose), launched its own MERIDA brand in 1988 and in 1992 became the first bicycle manufacturer listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The backbone of today's Merida, however, is the R&D centre opened in 2001 in Magstadt, Germany, near Stuttgart, where the entire bike development takes place — frame design, geometry, colours, component specifications. The location is no accident: Mercedes, Porsche and other German automotive giants are right next door, meaning the area is full of top-class engineers. Magstadt also houses the brand's own test lab, where prototypes are put through punishing trials before going into production. At the Taiwanese factory, a local team of around 20 engineers turns the German concepts into production-ready products — this connection is Merida's signature: "engineered in Germany, tested by pros, built in Taiwan". Today Merida produces over 2 million bikes a year at its factories in Taiwan, China and Germany, and sells them in more than 77 countries — the range covers everything from kids' and city bikes to e-bikes, MTBs, gravel and full-on professional WorldTour racing machines. Merida has also left a deep mark on top-level sport: the Multivan Merida Biking Team that operated from 2000 to 2016 went down in history as one of the most successful MTB teams ever — over 30 World Cup wins, 15 World Championship titles, 15 European titles, and at the 2004 Athens Olympics both gold (Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå) and silver (José Hermida). On the road, Merida has supplied WorldTour teams since 2013 — the most memorable wins are Vincenzo Nibali's Milan–San Remo (2018) and Il Lombardia (2017) and Sonny Colbrelli's Paris–Roubaix (2021), all in Bahrain Victorious colours. A unique partnership ties Merida to the American premium brand Specialized: since 2001 Merida has owned 49% of Specialized and produces their models. The backbone of every Merida bike is Ike Tseng's original principle — do it with quality or don't do it at all.
