Winter Shoes Northwave EXTREME XC GTX

The Northwave EXTREME XC GTX is a PRO-series windproof and waterproof winter mountain bike shoe designed for riding in temperatures from –10 to +5 °C. Its warm Gore-Tex® lining protects the feet from cold, wind and moisture, while the highly flexible tendon area provides natural freedom of movement similar to a summer cycling shoe.

Power transfer is provided by the Carbon XC12 outsole, which features 100% carbon inserts in the pedal area and a stiffness index of 12/15. The sole combines efficient pedalling performance with the practicality required for mountain biking. Strategically positioned TPU inserts improve grip and abrasion resistance when walking or negotiating technical terrain.

The upper uses Northwave’s patented ultra-light XFrame® construction, wrapping the foot evenly without creating uncomfortable pressure points. Its overlap structure supports the foot during pedalling, helps transfer every watt of power and reduces energy dispersion. Lightweight rubber reinforcements provide abrasion resistance and 360° protection around the entire upper.

The SLW2 dial provides quick, even closure and allows the fit to be adjusted with millimetre precision. Its step-by-step release function makes it possible to reduce tension gradually while riding without opening the shoe completely.

The Easyfit Climaflex collar combines the exceptional flexibility of the Gore-Tex Rattler® membrane with the high thermal insulation of neoprene. This provides excellent ankle mobility together with dependable protection from cold and moisture. An anatomical heel seat and a solid thermoformed heel counter keep the foot securely positioned while pedalling.

The Arctic 4Layer insole combines EVA, aluminium, EVA and fleece layers to reduce heat loss through the sole and maintain warmth inside the shoe. Reflective inserts around the entire shoe improve visibility in low-light and dark conditions, adding safety during winter commuting and training.
