Nordic skates ZANDSTRA NORDIC
Zandstra Nordic Nordic skates are durable, high-quality Dutch-made skates for cross-country touring on natural ice. They can be used with both NNN and SNS cross-country bindings and boots, and with compatible screw-on clamps also with sturdy hiking boots. The strong, streamlined triangular aluminum frame is the same as on the NIS model, but the Nordic version has no NIS mounting plate.
The price includes a Zandstra Delta Fit All XC/BC mounting hardware kit, which lets you bolt on SNS, NNN and many backcountry bindings. The patented attachment uses elongated slots instead of fixed holes, so a wide range of bindings can be mounted and their position can be adjusted to find the ideal balance point. If you buy bindings together with the skates, mounting is included; if you mount them yourself, carefully follow the instructions in the package.
The frame is made from epoxy-coated 7000-series aluminum, providing an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio. The runner is stainless tool steel with a thickness of 1.25 mm and a hardness of 60 Rc. A 27 m radius offers a good blend of speed and control. The total height of 47 mm (27 mm frame + 20 mm steel) ensures secure edging. The tip of the blade curves up so you can skate safely over bumps, cracks and even snow-covered sections of ice.
Several blade lengths are available so each skater can choose a setup that matches body weight and skating style. For sporty skating on smooth ice, you can pick a slightly shorter blade and mount the binding as far forward as possible, making the skate more agile and lively. For a more upright stance and rougher ice, a longer blade with the binding mounted further back will add stability and help the tip clear obstacles more easily. Lighter skaters can usually ride shorter blades, while skaters over about 90 kg are better served by longer blades for improved weight distribution and edge grip.
Sporty skaters using NNN boots are well served by Rottefella Sport bindings, where the black Skate flexors can be swapped for red or grey Extra Hard flexors to hold the heel more firmly against the Nordic skates, similar to true speed skates. Any screw-on ski clamps that fit the Delta Fit All slots can be used on these skates.
Recommended boots: we suggest skating, combi or touring cross-country boots with solid ankle support and a stiff sole, and suitable hiking boots for compatible clamp-on bindings. This provides the lateral control you need for long blades and uneven natural ice.
Care: avoid walking on rocky surfaces in your skates, as this can quickly damage the edges. Use the included plastic blade guards or dedicated skate holders for transport and storage. To prevent rust, always dry the blades thoroughly after use and before fitting the guards. Do not store the skates for long periods in damp environments, including inside a car. For longer storage, a light coat of oil on the blades is recommended.
