The Northwave EXTREME R GTX is a warm, windproof and waterproof PRO-series road cycling shoe designed for riding in temperatures from –20 to +5 °C. Its lightweight and stiff carbon outsole, seamless thermowelded Gore-Tex® upper and high neoprene ankle cuff provide dependable weather protection, warmth and comfortable mobility in demanding winter conditions.

The patented XFrame® upper and overlap construction wrap the foot evenly without creating uncomfortable pressure points. This uniform support helps transfer every watt of power efficiently, reduces energy dispersion and helps prevent tingling or numbness that can be caused by closure systems applying uneven pressure.

The SLW2 dial allows the fit to be adjusted with millimetre precision. Its step-by-step release function makes it possible to reduce tension gradually while riding, and the system remains easy to operate even when wearing winter gloves. The precise closure keeps the foot stable and supports efficient power transfer.

The high Easyfit Climaflex collar combines the exceptional flexibility of the Gore-Tex Rattler® membrane with the high thermal insulation of neoprene. Large pull loops make the shoes easier to put on, while the flexible cuff allows natural ankle movement during pedalling and protects against cold, wind and moisture.

An anatomical heel seat and solid thermoformed heel counter keep the heel securely positioned. The Arctic 4Layer insole combines EVA, aluminium, EVA and fleece layers to reduce heat loss through the sole and maintain warmth inside the shoe. Reflective inserts positioned around the entire shoe improve visibility in low-light and dark conditions.

The carbon outsole has a stiffness index of 12/15, delivering efficient power transfer for winter road cycling while maintaining suitable comfort for longer rides. Each shoe weighs approximately 370 grams in size 42.
