Shimano Deore XT Di2 M8250 is a high-performance wireless electronic 12-speed shifting upgrade kit designed to convert an existing mechanical Shimano mountain bike drivetrain to the advanced Di2 system. The kit includes all essential components required for electronic rear shifting: RD-M8250 SGS rear derailleur, SW-M8250-R shift switch, BT-DN320 battery and EC-DN100 charger. It is an excellent solution for upgrading an existing mountain bike or building a new bike with reliable electronic shifting.

The Shimano Deore XT M8200 series combines decades of proven reliability with Shimano's latest mountain bike technologies. The next-generation Di2 system features fully wireless electronic control, delivering exceptionally fast, accurate and smooth gear changes even under demanding pedalling loads. Technologies inspired by the flagship XTR M9200 series provide dependable performance on technical trails, steep climbs and fast descents.

At the heart of the kit is the Shimano Deore XT RD-M8250 SGS rear derailleur, featuring advanced Shadow ES technology. Developed for demanding off-road riding, it provides stable chain management and reliable shifting in challenging conditions. Its robust construction helps withstand impacts and vibrations encountered on technical trails, while the aluminium pulley cage combines low weight with excellent stiffness.

The SGS long-cage rear derailleur is designed for 1x12 drivetrains with a 10–51T cassette. It is compatible with Shimano 12-speed HG chains and mounts to a conventional derailleur hanger. The derailleur can also be used with UDH-standard frames, eliminating the need for a dedicated direct-mount frame interface when upgrading to electronic shifting.

The wireless Shimano Deore XT SW-M8250-R shift switch incorporates Rapid ES technology, enabling fast and intuitive gear selection with minimal finger movement. The shifter uses a separate handlebar clamp-band mount, removing the need for a brake lever-integrated mounting system. This allows flexible installation and easy adjustment of the shifter position to suit individual rider preferences.

The fully wireless design simplifies installation and helps maintain a clean, uncluttered cockpit. Eliminating mechanical shift cables means that shifting precision is no longer affected by cable stretch, contamination or wear. Electronic operation delivers consistent gear changes while reducing the maintenance requirements associated with traditional mechanical shifting systems.

The rear derailleur is powered by a Shimano BT-DN320 battery with an energy capacity of 2.32 Wh and a rated capacity of 0.305 Ah. The kit includes a Shimano EC-DN100 charger with a USB cable. A Shimano SM-CN910-12 Quick Link, designed for the CN-M9100-12 chain, is also included.

The Shimano Deore XT Di2 M8250 upgrade kit is a practical solution for riders who want the benefits of electronic shifting without replacing their entire drivetrain. With a compatible existing Shimano 12-speed system, the current cassette, chain and crankset can remain in use. This makes it possible to upgrade to premium electronic shifting while minimising the need for additional component replacements.
