Shimano Ultegra PD-R8200 SPD-SLR is a next-generation high-performance road pedal combining race-proven stiffness, efficient power transfer and lightweight construction. Designed for demanding road cyclists, these pedals deliver excellent foot stability, precise pedalling and dependable performance during intense training sessions, competitive racing and long-distance rides. This version features a 4 mm longer pedal axle, increasing the distance between the rider's foot and crank arm compared with the standard version.

The new Shimano SPD-SLR interface has been developed as an integrated platform, with pedals, cleats and cycling shoes engineered to work together as a complete system. Shimano has optimised every power transfer contact point to minimise unnecessary movement and improve pedalling efficiency. The redesigned pedal and cleat interface provides a 2.3 mm lower profile compared with the previous SPD-SL system. Bringing the foot closer to the pedal axle creates a more stable platform, enhancing power transfer, bike control and pedalling confidence.

Faster and easier clip-in is one of the key improvements of the SPD-SLR platform. A larger engagement area and reduced 10.5° clip-in angle, compared with 15.5° on the previous SPD-SL system, allow riders to engage the pedals more naturally and quickly. This is particularly beneficial when accelerating from a stop, exiting corners or immediately resuming pedalling during a race.

The pedal body is manufactured from injection-moulded carbon composite, combining outstanding stiffness with low weight. An extra-wide pedal platform provides excellent foot support and stability, while the integrated stainless steel contact plate increases durability and helps optimise power transfer. Reduced bearing resistance contributes to smoother rotation, and the sealed mechanism provides protection against dirt and moisture.

The +4 mm extended axle version increases the distance between the pedals, providing additional clearance between the shoe and crank arm. It can benefit riders who prefer a wider stance or require more space between their cycling shoes and the cranks. The durable chromoly steel axle ensures strength and dependable performance.

The pedals are supplied with yellow Shimano CL-SL110 SPD-SLR cleats, offering 6° of float. This freedom of movement allows the foot to rotate naturally during pedalling, helping reduce unnecessary joint stress and improve comfort. The new SPD-SLR cleats are up to 22% lighter than their SPD-SL predecessors, while high-contrast adjustment markings make precise positioning and replacement easier. Adjustable release tension allows riders to customise the pedal engagement to their preferences.

Important: Shimano SPD-SLR is a new pedal and cleat interface. SPD-SLR cleats are not compatible with previous SPD-SL pedals, and SPD-SL cleats cannot be used with SPD-SLR pedals. In addition to the included yellow CL-SL110 cleats, the SPD-SLR system supports red CL-SL100, blue CL-SL120 and grey CL-SL130 cleats, available separately.
