Shimano Ultegra PD-R8200 SPD-SLR are next-generation high-performance road pedals combining race-proven stiffness, efficient power transfer and lightweight construction. Designed for demanding road cyclists, these pedals deliver excellent foot stability, precise pedalling and dependable performance during intense training sessions, competitive racing and long-distance rides. The carbon composite body and stainless steel contact plate offer an excellent balance of low weight, durability and power transfer efficiency.

The new Shimano SPD-SLR interface has been developed as an integrated platform, with pedals, cleats and cycling shoes engineered to function together as a complete system. Shimano has optimised every power transfer contact point to minimise unnecessary movement and improve pedalling efficiency. Next-generation S-PHYRE cycling shoes, Dura-Ace and Ultegra pedals, and SPD-SLR cleats are designed to complement each other, creating a more direct and stable connection between rider and bicycle.

One of the most important improvements of the SPD-SLR system is its 2.3 mm lower stack height compared with the previous SPD-SL interface. The redesigned pedal and cleat connection brings the foot closer to the pedal axle, creating a more stable pedalling platform and improving power transfer. The extra-wide pedal platform and precise cleat engagement help minimise unwanted movement, providing excellent control during climbs, sprints and high-intensity training.

Faster and easier clip-in makes the SPD-SLR system more intuitive and secure. A larger engagement area and reduced 10.5° clip-in angle allow riders to engage the pedals more naturally and quickly. By comparison, the previous SPD-SL system features a 15.5° clip-in angle. This improvement is particularly beneficial when accelerating from a stop, exiting corners or quickly resuming pedalling.

The pedal body is manufactured from injection-moulded carbon composite, combining excellent stiffness with low weight. An integrated stainless steel contact plate increases wear resistance and provides a secure support surface for the cleat. Reduced bearing friction supports smoother rotation, while the sealed mechanism helps protect internal components against dirt and moisture. The durable chromoly steel axle ensures long-lasting reliability.

The pedals are supplied with yellow Shimano CL-SL110 SPD-SLR cleats, offering 6° of float. This allows the foot to rotate naturally during pedalling, helping reduce unnecessary stress on the knees and ankles while improving riding comfort. The new SPD-SLR cleats are up to 22% lighter than their SPD-SL predecessors. High-contrast positioning markings simplify accurate cleat installation and make it easier to reproduce the preferred position when replacing worn cleats.

Shimano Ultegra PD-R8200 pedals feature single-sided engagement and adjustable release tension, allowing riders to customise the force required to disengage their shoes. In addition to the included yellow CL-SL110 cleats, the SPD-SLR system supports red CL-SL100 (0°), blue CL-SL120 (2°) and grey CL-SL130 (6°) cleats, available separately.

Important: Shimano SPD-SLR is a new pedal and cleat interface. SPD-SLR cleats are not compatible with previous SPD-SL pedals, and SPD-SL cleats cannot be used with SPD-SLR pedals. Always verify cycling shoe and cleat compatibility before purchasing.
