Shimano Nexus/Alfine 5R is a genuine non-turn washer designed for securing compatible Shimano internally geared rear hubs. It prevents the hub axle from rotating inside the frame dropout and helps maintain the correct position of the gear-shifting mechanism.
The yellow 5R non-turn washer is designed for right-hand installation on frames with standard or reversed horizontal dropouts. The recommended matching washer for the left-hand side is the brown 5L non-turn washer (Y33M39510). On certain Shimano Nexus 3-speed city bikes with standard dropouts, the non-turn washer may instead be fitted only on the left-hand side.
