Drivetrain systems are built to withstand the elements and heavy continuous loads while transmitting shifts smoothly and quietly. Today’s quality materials, coatings (e.g. X-Bridge) and regular maintenance ensure long chain life. Still, inspect chain wear regularly with a gauge.
Chain wear largely depends on use and shifting habits. A worn chain accelerates wear of other components (chainrings, cassette, jockey wheels). To minimize wear and keep shifting crisp, clean and service the chain regularly and replace it on time.
