Built from the same heat-treated 6061 aluminium tubes as our adult bikes, the Acid 240 Disc's frame is every bit as tough as a full-size mountain bike, but with the right weight and proportions for a child. Disc mounts allow the use of these powerful, safe and easy-to-use brakes. There's a bottle mount for mid-ride refreshment and rack mounts, too. The handling is designed to be both fun and confidence-inspiring. And, because we know accidents can happen, we made the gear hanger easily replaceable so that a knock or crash needn't result in an expensive repair.

When you're growing up you can't always have everything you want, but for aspiring mountain bikers the Acid 240 Disc is a step in the right direction. With powerful hydraulic disc brakes, a wide gear range and the extra comfort and control of a suspension fork, it's to all intents and purposes just like mum and dad's mountain bikes.

• ALUMINIUM LITE - There's aluminium, and then there's CUBE Aluminium Lite. This heat-treated 6061 aluminium is stiff, fatigue-resistant and, because of its natural corrosion resistance, a great material from which to make lightweight tube sets – and bicycle frames. And it does all this without adding unnecessary weight, so you can get the best enjoyment out of your CUBE.
