Overview
Cleats Shimano SPD-SLR CL-SL130 6° Grey
Shimano CL-SL130 SPD-SLR are next-generation road cycling cleats specifically designed to make the new SPD-SLR pedal system compatible with three-bolt road cycling shoes from different manufacturers. Featuring 6° of float, the grey cleats allow natural foot rotation while pedalling, providing an excellent balance of comfort, stability and efficient power transfer.
Unlike other Shimano SPD-SLR cleats, the main advantage of the CL-SL130 is its extended adjustment range. The cleat construction with spacers allows more precise positioning, including on cycling shoes with fixed sole mounting points. This makes the CL-SL130 a practical solution for riders who want to upgrade to the new Shimano SPD-SLR pedal system while continuing to use their existing three-bolt road cycling shoes.
The Shimano SPD-SLR interface has been developed as an integrated platform, with pedals, cleats and cycling shoes engineered to function together as a complete system. The redesigned pedal and cleat contact area provides a secure connection while reducing unnecessary movement, improving pedalling stability and power transfer. The extra-wide contact platform delivers excellent foot support during long training sessions, demanding climbs and powerful sprints.
One of the key innovations of the new SPD-SLR system is its 2.3 mm lower stack height compared with the previous SPD-SL interface, bringing the foot closer to the pedal axle and improving stability. Important distinction: the CL-SL130 is primarily designed to improve compatibility with third-party cycling shoes and therefore does not provide the same low-profile and weight-saving advantages as the CL-SL100, CL-SL110 and CL-SL120 cleats developed for the fully integrated SPD-SLR platform.
Faster and easier clip-in makes the SPD-SLR system more intuitive to use. A larger engagement area and reduced 10.5° clip-in angle allow riders to engage the pedals more naturally and quickly. By comparison, the previous SPD-SL system features a 15.5° clip-in angle. This improvement is particularly useful when accelerating from a stop, exiting corners or quickly resuming pedalling.
The 6° float of Shimano CL-SL130 cleats allows a small amount of natural foot rotation during pedalling, helping reduce discomfort and unnecessary joint stress caused by restrictive foot positioning. This makes them suitable for everyday training and longer road rides. High-contrast positioning markings simplify initial installation and allow riders to reproduce their preferred cleat position more accurately when replacing worn cleats.
Shimano CL-SL130 cleats are compatible with Dura-Ace PD-R9300 and Ultegra PD-R8200 SPD-SLR pedals. Manufactured from durable plastic, they feature a distinctive black and grey colour combination.
Important: Shimano SPD-SLR is a new pedal and cleat interface. SPD-SLR cleats are not compatible with previous SPD-SL pedals, and SPD-SL cleats cannot be used with SPD-SLR pedals. Always verify compatibility with both the pedal system and cycling shoe mounting interface before purchasing.
