Shimano CL-SL120 SPD-SLR are next-generation road cycling cleats combining excellent stability, efficient power transfer and limited freedom of movement. Featuring 2° of float, the blue cleats allow a small amount of natural foot rotation while maintaining a highly secure connection to the pedal. They are particularly suitable for performance-oriented road cyclists and competitive riders who prefer a direct pedalling feel without a completely fixed foot position.

The new Shimano SPD-SLR interface has been developed as an integrated platform, with cycling shoes, pedals and cleats engineered to function together as a complete system. Shimano has optimised every power transfer contact point to minimise unnecessary movement while improving pedalling efficiency and stability. Next-generation S-PHYRE cycling shoes, Dura-Ace and Ultegra pedals, and SPD-SLR cleats are designed to complement each other, creating a more direct and secure connection between rider and bicycle.

One of the most significant improvements of the SPD-SLR system is its 2.3 mm lower stack height compared with the previous SPD-SL interface. The redesigned pedal and cleat connection brings the foot closer to the pedal axle, creating a more stable platform and improving power transfer. The extra-wide contact area and precise pedal engagement help maintain excellent foot support during demanding climbs, sprints and long training sessions.

Faster and easier clip-in makes the SPD-SLR system more intuitive to use. A larger engagement area and reduced 10.5° clip-in angle allow riders to engage the pedals more naturally and quickly. By comparison, the previous SPD-SL system features a 15.5° clip-in angle. This improvement is particularly beneficial when accelerating from a stop, exiting corners or quickly resuming pedalling during a race.

The 2° float of Shimano CL-SL120 cleats provides a balance between a fixed foot position and natural movement. Compared with the yellow CL-SL110 cleats offering 6° of float, the blue version allows less rotational movement, creating a more direct and stable pedalling sensation. At the same time, it provides greater freedom of movement than the red CL-SL100 cleats with their fixed 0° position. This makes the CL-SL120 an excellent choice for riders seeking precise power transfer with a small degree of rotational flexibility.

The newly developed SPD-SLR cleats are up to 22% lighter than their SPD-SL predecessors, while maintaining the durability expected from Shimano's race-proven road cycling components. High-contrast positioning markings simplify initial installation and allow riders to accurately reproduce their preferred cleat position when replacing worn cleats. Precise cleat alignment is particularly important with limited-float models.

Shimano CL-SL120 cleats are compatible with Dura-Ace PD-R9300 and Ultegra PD-R8200 SPD-SLR pedals. Manufactured from durable plastic, they feature a distinctive black and blue colour combination.

Important: Shimano SPD-SLR is a new pedal and cleat interface. SPD-SLR cleats are not compatible with previous SPD-SL pedals, and SPD-SL cleats cannot be used with SPD-SLR pedals. Always verify pedal system compatibility before purchasing.
