The Northwave EXTREME XC 2 mountain bike shoes continue the legacy of the renowned XC series and are designed for riders who demand maximum power transfer, low weight and precise control. These race-level shoes deliver responsive performance on steep climbs, technical rock gardens and fast cross-country courses.

The Hyperlight XC outsole is made from 100% unidirectional carbon and has a stiffness index of 14.0. Its highly rigid construction transfers pedalling power directly and efficiently, reducing energy loss during hard accelerations and sustained climbing. Developed in collaboration with Michelin, the sole combines race-level performance, low weight and reliable traction.

Michelin rubber inserts with dual-layer compound technology are 28% more abrasion resistant than TPU. They provide excellent grip on rocky, root-covered and slippery terrain while keeping additional weight to a minimum. This makes the outsole suitable for both high-speed riding and technical sections that require off-bike movement.

ARS, or Anatomic Reticular Support, creates an exoskeleton that surrounds and adapts to the shape of the foot. It distributes pedalling loads evenly and in a controlled manner, improving support while reducing localised pressure points.

The advanced dual-zone closure system uses two SLW3 X-DIAL dials, allowing the pressure across the instep and forefoot to be adjusted independently with micrometric precision. Pressing the button releases the tension step by step, while lifting it opens the shoe completely. This makes fit adjustment quick and intuitive, even while riding.

The perforated upper and mesh inserts allow excess heat to escape and improve ventilation during hot-weather riding. A thinner TPU protective layer is now 10% more resistant, offering reliable defence against rocks, branches and other trail impacts.

Two insoles with different thicknesses, 3 mm and 5 mm, are included to help customise the internal volume and overall fit. The approximate weight is 365 grams per shoe.
