The Northwave EXTREME XC 2 mountain bike shoes continue the legacy of the renowned XC model and are designed for riders who demand race-level lightness, responsiveness and power transfer. They deliver dependable performance through technical rock gardens, fast cross-country courses and steep climbs.

ARS, or Anatomic Reticular Support, technology forms an external support structure that surrounds the foot and adapts to its shape. It distributes pedalling loads evenly and in a controlled manner, improves stability and minimises unnecessary movement inside the shoe. The thinner TPU protective layer is now 10% more resistant, providing effective protection with minimal additional weight.

The Hyperlight XC outsole is made from 100% unidirectional carbon fibre and has a stiffness index of 14/15. Its extremely stiff and lightweight construction delivers optimal power transfer to the pedals. Developed in collaboration with Michelin, the dual-layer rubber inserts are 28% more abrasion-resistant than TPU and provide excellent grip when walking or negotiating technical terrain.

The advanced dual-zone closure system uses two X-Dial SLW3 dials, allowing the pressure over the instep and forefoot to be adjusted independently with millimetre precision. The SLW3 mechanism enables gradual step-by-step release with a push of the button, while lifting the button opens the shoe completely in an instant.

The perforated upper and integrated mesh sections allow excess heat to escape, helping maintain a comfortable internal climate even on hot days. Two insoles with different thicknesses, 3 mm and 5 mm, are included so the internal volume and fit can be customised more precisely to the rider’s foot.
