The SHIMANO DU-E5000 is a 1st generation e-bike mid-drive motor designed for comfortable, quiet and natural everyday riding. With 250 W continuous rated power and 40 N·m maximum torque, it delivers smooth pedal assistance for city use, cycle paths and longer relaxed rides.
The drive unit features an integrated design and two drive unit cover design variations, allowing it to fit neatly into different bicycle frame concepts. Optimized pedal assist keeps the ride comfortable and consistent, while lower drag torque and reduced noise help the bike feel more natural, even when assistance is not in use.
Its compact and lightweight construction helps preserve balanced handling. The maximum assist speed can be set via E-TUBE PROJECT up to approximately 25 km/h, making the unit suitable for standard European e-bike use.
When used with a SHIMANO Di2 internal geared hub, the DU-E5000 supports SYMPHOMATIC and automatic shifting for a more natural riding experience. With a Di2 internal geared hub and rear derailleur, Quick Walk / Intelligent Walk Assist functionality is also available.
The motor is compatible with all common brake types, including V-brake, roller brake, disc brake and coaster brake. It also provides 12 V DC power supply outputs for both front and rear lights.
