The Shimano Ultegra BR-R8170 is a next-generation hydraulic 2-piston rear disc brake caliper with Flat Mount design. As part of the 12-speed ULTEGRA R8100 groupset, it delivers maximum speed, control and comfort for racing, training and performance road riding.

Completely redesigned, it offers optimized modulation and outstanding braking power. The new construction reduces brake drag, improves heat dissipation and makes the system quieter and easier to maintain. Its compact design simplifies wheel changes, while Shimano’s one-way bleeding system ensures clean and straightforward servicing.

Supplied with L03A resin brake pads with fins, the caliper benefits from enhanced heat management and reduced noise. Operating with Shimano mineral oil, it provides consistent and predictable braking performance – a true example of Shimano’s “Science of Speed”.
